The Bank was established on 29 April 1992. Since that time the Bank has been successfully operating at the Latvian and international financial markets, offering its services to a wide range of clients – from natural persons to international industrial enterprises.

In the year 2005, the Bank received the award “The best bank of the year in Latvia” from the international financial magazine "The Banker”, emphasizing the fact that in its development strategy the Bank pays special attention to information technologies that allows the Bank to offer new services and convenient solutions to its clients.

At the beginning of 2006 the Bank attracted a strategic investor – the respectable and highly professional entrepreneurs from Iceland. In this connection, now 51% of the Bank’s equity is held by the company Straumborg ehf., represented by Jon Helgi Gudmundson., owner of a large international company NORVIK hf.

In December 2006 the Bank obtained its new name – "NORVIK BANKA" (previously – LATEKO BANKA).
