What is your name and position?
My name is David Waring. I'm the founder and community host of InformedTrades.com.

What is your professional background?
Prior to starting InformedTrades.com, I worked at Forex Capital Markets (FXCM), an online currency trading firm. I was the head of the sales department at FXCM, and also worked to develop trading systems for institutional investment funds.

Can you briefly highlight for us your involvement with the foreign exchange market?
FXCM is one of the largest firms in the retail forex trading space, so I got to learn a lot about how the forex industry works, from individual traders to brokerage firms and software developers. This experience provided me with a foundation to launch InformedTrades.com, a site meant to help people me share my knowledge about the forex market, and to continue my journey as a trader.

Could you please describe the services your company offers for the Forex market?
Our mission statement is to help traders learn. With that in mind, we offer a growing catalog of free courses on a wide variety of topics, as well as discussion forums for traders to discuss the markets and ask questions.

Who is your targeted audience?
Anyone who wants to learn to trade! Currently, though, we're attracting English-speaking self-traders of all markets, particularly daytraders and swing traders with a strong reliance on technical analysis.

Of course, our community is designed to welcome those who are completely uninitiated in the world of trading as well.

Who are your main competitors in the Forex Education market?
I'm not sure what competitors we have, if any. The only real competition is anyone who stands in the way of our mission statement, which is to help traders learn. I suppose companies that are putting out false information and deceiving customers are our top competitors, as they hinder the advancement of our mission.

What are the main advantages you have over your competitors?
Our content is free. And organized.

What are your personal thoughts on how the financial crisis is affecting the Forex market?
I think it's waking up a lot of people to the opportunities in the forex market. There is a school of thought that this financial crisis is really a dollar crisis, and I think that line of thinking can shed light on some of the great wealth preservation and gain opportunities currently in the forex market.

What else do you offer?
We've launched InformedPoints, a game currency for the community at InformedTrades.com. Members can complete projects designed to help us spread our mission statement; in exchange, they earn points. These points can then be used to purchase trading-related products in our store. We're excited about InformedPoints as a great way to help people learn and to build a vibrant community of traders as well.

What exciting things are happening at your company?
We're in the process of working with trusted community members to help them build their own business within InformedTrades.com by selling products/services they endorse as well as selling their own private forum.

We're also working on creating "quests" -- games that community members can play in which they will earn points for reaching goals on their way to becoming a successful trader.
