You could get that information by skimming Reuters news or the NYT online edition in the morning. You don't need to subscribe to Business Week.

It's possible that I read financial news because I am generally interested in finance and investment. There is a reason I became a trader! On the other hand I am convinced that it makes me a better trader to be aware of the economic issues in the world.

Unless you like the crackling of the pages there is no reason to read an actual newspaper or magazine when all the same information is available online.

If you want to invest time and energy into understanding an article in-depth it is much easier to do this if the newspaper pages crackle.

haha - I agree with you there Mufraji - I do prefer old school print over computer screens - I spend 10 hours everyday watching numbers and news scroll across my screen, hurts the eyes after a while.

I think you guys are labouring the point a bit here, whether information is presented in print or pc screens isnt the real issue - rather it's WHAT information is available in different formats and how each is useful in its own way.

The exact same info is the exact same info - whether read in a newspaper/magazine or online.

I think the important thing to realise is that for CERTAIN modes of information, the internet/online access provides a speed and accessibility that newspapers just can't compete with. Once the paper is printed - it is almost immediately out of date - for CERTAIN info!!

You're not going to check prices in a daily newspaper - unless just to skim over closing prices in various markets you have an interest in. If you have large positions however - you better get yourself an internet connection.

Paper print is much more portable - and can be read anywhere.

Use each mode of information delivery to it's best potential.
