Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Machinery and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kinko Optical Co Ltd (TW:6209), which rose 9.99% or 4.45 points to trade at 49.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Calin Technology Co Ltd (TW:4976) added 9.96% or 4.00 points to end at 44.15 and Lingsen Precision Industries Ltd (TW:2369) was up 9.73% or 1.60 points to 18.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tung Kai Technology Engineering Co Ltd (TW:3018), which fell 10.00% or 7.70 points to trade at 69.30 at the close. VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388) declined 5.17% or 0.60 points to end at 11.00 and HTC Corp (TW:2498) was down 5.13% or 4.00 points to 74.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 554 to 185 and 131 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lingsen Precision Industries Ltd (TW:2369) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.73% or 1.60 to 18.05.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.75% or 0.39 to $52.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.59% or 0.34 to hit $58.26 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.48% or 6.28 to trade at $1295.42 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.35% to 30.325, while TWD/CNY fell 0.27% to 0.2189.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 93.06.
