Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Cement and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Crowell (TW:2528), which rose 9.99% or 0.73 points to trade at 8.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) added 9.89% or 0.89 points to end at 9.89 and Grand Ocean (TW:5907) was up 9.88% or 2.10 points to 23.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Htc Corp (TW:2498), which fell 10.00% or 6.90 points to trade at 62.10 at the close. Min Aik (TW:3060) declined 9.97% or 4.90 points to end at 44.25 and Ko Ja (TW:5215) was down 9.92% or 3.55 points to 32.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 519 to 238 and 94 ended unchanged.
Shares in Min Aik (TW:3060) fell to 3-years lows; losing 9.97% or 4.90 to 44.25.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.09% or 0.04 to $44.62 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $45.55 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.82% or 10.35 to trade at $1275.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 32.528, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2007.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 94.03.
