Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Glass and Semiconductor sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.04% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taiwan Sakura (TW:9911), which rose 9.95% or 2.00 points to trade at 22.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Walsin Tech (TW:2492) added 6.04% or 1.55 points to end at 27.20 and Global Brands (TW:6191) was up 5.75% or 0.40 points to 7.36 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Arcadyan Tech (TW:3596), which fell 6.79% or 3.05 points to trade at 41.90 at the close. Uniform (TW:2482) declined 6.74% or 0.90 points to end at 12.45 and Chung Hung Ste (TW:2014) was down 5.67% or 0.40 points to 6.65.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 563 to 185 and 104 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.42% or 0.19 to $45.14 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.45% or 0.21 to hit $46.72 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.53% or 6.60 to trade at $1257.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 32.255, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2010.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.70% at 93.72.
