Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Semiconductor and Information Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.17% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Epileds Tech (TW:4956), which rose 10.00% or 2.30 points to trade at 25.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Rectron (TW:2302) added 10.00% or 0.63 points to end at 6.93 and Pao Lung (TW:1906) was up 7.95% or 1.30 points to 17.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165), which fell 7.14% or 1.35 points to trade at 17.55 at the close. Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) declined 5.24% or 1.00 points to end at 18.10 and Aten (TW:6277) was down 4.83% or 4.10 points to 80.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 393 to 367 and 106 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pao Lung (TW:1906) rose to all time highs; gaining 7.95% or 1.30 to 17.65.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.39% or 0.20 to $50.65 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.23% or 0.12 to hit $51.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1267.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.02% to 31.633, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2133.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 98.61.
