Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Travel, Media and Retail sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 1.62%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Public Power (AT:DEHr), which rose 7.46% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.44 at the close. Meanwhile, Intracom Holdings SA (AT:INRr) added 6.98% or 0.047 points to end at 0.720 and Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA (AT:MORr) was up 5.07% or 1.02 points to 21.12 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which fell 2.44% or 0.0010 points to trade at 0.0400 at the close. Autohellas (AT:AUTr) declined 0.87% or 0.20 points to end at 22.80 and European Reliance General Insurance Co SA (AT:EREr) was down 0.87% or 0.030 points to 3.410.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 70 to 28 and 17 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.33% or 4.15 to $1251.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.63% or 0.84 to hit $52.49 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.71% or 1.03 to trade at $61.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.42% to 1.1364, while EUR/GBP fell 0.94% to 0.8978.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 96.988.
