Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Mining, Plantation and Consumer Products sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI declined 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were YTL Corporation Bhd (KL:YTLS), which rose 1.82% or 0.03 points to trade at 1.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE) added 1.49% or 0.04 points to end at 2.72 and IHH Healthcare Bhd (KL:IHHH) was up 1.37% or 0.08 points to 5.91 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM), which fell 2.61% or 0.12 points to trade at 4.47 at the close. IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) declined 2.39% or 0.11 points to end at 4.50 and Genting Bhd (KL:GENT) was down 2.23% or 0.20 points to 8.77.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 56 to 46 and 2 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.00% or 0.56 to $56.15 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.98% or 0.63 to hit $63.35 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.56% or 6.70 to trade at $1204.70 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.01% to 2.6961, while USD/MYR fell 0.12% to 3.6254.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.40% at 97.48.
