Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Information Technology, Land & Property and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Union Chemicals Lanka PLC (CM:UCHE), which rose 12.93% or 70.40 points to trade at 615.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Ceylon Tea Services PLC (CM:CTEA) added 12.91% or 93.60 points to end at 818.50 and F L C Holdings PLC (CM:FREE) was up 8.33% or 0.100 points to 1.300 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Harischandra Mills PLC (CM:HARI), which fell 7.06% or 190.70 points to trade at 2510.00 at the close. Browns Beach Hotels PLC (CM:BBH) declined 6.90% or 2.00 points to end at 27.00 and East West Properties PLC (CM:EAST) was down 6.67% or 1.00 points to 14.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 91 to 89 and 56 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.56% or 0.75 to $47.35 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.90% or 0.45 to hit $49.51 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.35% or 4.65 to trade at $1341.45 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.28% to 192.605, while USD/LKR rose 0.31% to 145.955.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 94.59.
