Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Other and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chc (TW:4164), which rose 10.00% or 4.40 points to trade at 48.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Altek (TW:3059) added 9.98% or 2.45 points to end at 27.00 and Azurewave (TW:3694) was up 9.97% or 1.45 points to 16.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Y.C.C. (TW:1339), which fell 9.95% or 5.90 points to trade at 53.40 at the close. Edison Opto (TW:3591) declined 9.29% or 1.70 points to end at 16.60 and J Touch (TW:3584) was down 7.02% or 0.60 points to 7.95.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 490 to 350 and 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Y.C.C. (TW:1339) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.95% or 5.90 to 53.40. Shares in Edison Opto (TW:3591) fell to 3-years lows; falling 9.29% or 1.70 to 16.60.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.99% or 0.45 to $45.35 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.78% or 0.38 to hit $48.55 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.62% or 7.20 to trade at $1146.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.73% to 33.010, while TWD/CNY fell 0.68% to 0.1908.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 96.49.
