Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Trading & Consumer Goods and Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius (TW:3406), which rose 9.93% or 4.85 points to trade at 53.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) added 9.89% or 2.35 points to end at 26.10 and Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) was up 9.86% or 0.140 points to 1.560 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which fell 9.80% or 0.93 points to trade at 8.56 at the close. Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) declined 9.09% or 0.180 points to end at 1.800 and Flytech (TW:6206) was down 6.26% or 6.60 points to 98.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 483 to 249 and 121 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.89% or 2.35 to 26.10.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.60% or 0.74 to $47.07 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.38% or 0.66 to hit $48.43 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.34% or 4.55 to trade at $1320.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.42% to 32.386, while TWD/CNY rose 0.34% to 0.2054.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.40% at 96.16.
