Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Glass and Hotels sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Casetek Holdings Ltd (TW:5264), which rose 10.00% or 10.00 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Faraday Technology Corp (TW:3035) added 10.00% or 6.90 points to end at 75.90 and VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388) was up 9.92% or 1.20 points to 13.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026), which fell 9.17% or 11.00 points to trade at 109.00 at the close. Compeq Manufacturing Co Ltd (TW:2313) declined 8.16% or 3.10 points to end at 34.90 and Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) was down 6.29% or 0.90 points to 13.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 426 to 344 and 120 ended unchanged.
Shares in Faraday Technology Corp (TW:3035) rose to 5-year highs; up 10.00% or 6.90 to 75.90.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.11% or 0.07 to $65.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.17% or 0.12 to hit $70.30 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.70% or 9.60 to trade at $1353.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 29.104, while TWD/CNY rose 0.46% to 0.2185.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 88.84.
