Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Auto and Other Electronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028), which rose 8.11% or 0.15 points to trade at 2.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tainan Enter (TW:1473) added 6.30% or 2.25 points to end at 37.95 and Htc Corp (TW:2498) was up 5.14% or 4.20 points to 85.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 9.78% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.03 at the close. Via Tech (TW:2388) declined 8.39% or 1.30 points to end at 14.20 and Advanced Power (TW:8261) was down 7.16% or 1.75 points to 22.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 659 to 125 and 69 ended unchanged.
Shares in Candmark (TW:5259) fell to all time lows; losing 9.78% or 0.22 to 2.03.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 2.14% or 0.91 to $41.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.09% or 0.92 to hit $43.11 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.29% or 3.70 to trade at $1250.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.09% to 32.234, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2017.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.05.
