Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Forestry & Paper and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.72% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS), which rose 1.70% or 3.35 points to trade at 200.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) added 1.29% or 110.00 points to end at 8610.00 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) was up 1.26% or 74.00 points to 5924.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which fell 6.87% or 56.00 points to trade at 759.00 at the close. NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC) declined 6.00% or 144.00 points to end at 2258.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was down 2.67% or 1.90 points to 69.32.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1244 to 920 and 194 ended unchanged.
Shares in Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.87% or 56.00 to 759.00. Shares in Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) fell to 5-year lows; losing 2.67% or 1.90 to 69.32.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.49% or 7.25 to $1483.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.38% or 0.21 to hit $54.48 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.33% or 0.20 to trade at $59.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.12% to 1.2155, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.9215.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 97.387.
