Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Iron & Steel, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 1.42%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Rotam (TW:4141), which rose 10.00% or 3.50 points to trade at 38.50 at the close. Meanwhile, China Steel St (TW:2013) added 9.98% or 2.25 points to end at 24.80 and Shin Shin Nat (TW:9918) was up 9.97% or 3.10 points to 34.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 9.84% or 0.31 points to trade at 2.84 at the close. Shuttle (TW:2405) declined 4.44% or 0.50 points to end at 10.75 and Novatek Microe (TW:3034) was down 4.08% or 5.00 points to 117.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 577 to 175 and 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Candmark (TW:5259) fell to all time lows; down 9.84% or 0.31 to 2.84.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.92% or 0.81 to $41.36 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.72% or 0.77 to hit $43.92 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.82% or 10.30 to trade at $1250.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.11% to 32.340, while TWD/CNY fell 0.20% to 0.1992.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 94.25.
