Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Electricity, Iron & Steel and Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jih Lin (TW:5285), which rose 10.00% or 3.45 points to trade at 37.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Formosa Sumco (TW:3532) added 8.31% or 3.30 points to end at 43.00 and Hannstar Displ (TW:6116) was up 7.88% or 0.570 points to 7.800 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531), which fell 5.68% or 4.10 points to trade at 68.10 at the close. Casetek (TW:5264) declined 5.64% or 5.10 points to end at 85.30 and Shinih (TW:9944) was down 4.74% or 1.00 points to 20.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 387 to 342 and 137 ended unchanged.
Shares in Jih Lin (TW:5285) rose to 52-week highs; up 10.00% or 3.45 to 37.95. Shares in AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.68% or 4.10 to 68.10. Shares in Formosa Sumco (TW:3532) rose to 52-week highs; up 8.31% or 3.30 to 43.00. Shares in Casetek (TW:5264) fell to all time lows; down 5.64% or 5.10 to 85.30.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.31% or 0.14 to $44.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.28% or 0.13 to hit $46.48 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.47% or 6.15 to trade at $1297.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 31.439, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2151.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 97.25.
